Português em Foco 4 is the fourth in a series of textbooks organised into four levels aimed at teenage and adult learners of Portuguese as a Foreign Language.

It is divided into thematic areas designed to cover the communicative needs of advanced-level (C1-C2) learners.

Students will thus reach a level of independence that will allow them to interact in a large variety of communicative situations. They will also learn to develop linguistic-communicative mechanisms and to recognise and use the main lexical-syntactic and syntactic-semantic structures of the Portuguese language. These structures will allow for increased flexibility when using the language in less predictable situations.

Português em Foco 4 - Livro do Aluno - About the Authors 

Luísa Coelho. Graduate in Modern Languages and Literature and Master in Multimedia Educational Communication. She was a professor of Portuguese as a Foreign Language from 1983 to 2015 at the Institute of Culture and Portuguese Language, at the Faculty of Letters of Lisbon. She is also the author of several didactic materials for Portuguese as a Foreign Language.

Carla Oliveira. Graduated in Portuguese Language and Culture from the Faculty of Letters of the University of Lisbon and specialist in the area of Portuguese Foreign Language. Since 1992, she has taught in the courses of Portuguese for Foreigners of the Institute of Culture and Portuguese Language of the Faculty of Letters of the University of Lisbon. 

Português em Foco 4 é o quarto de um conjunto de manuais que abrangem os níveis A1 a C2, dirigidos a adolescentes e adultos aprendentes de Português como Língua Estrangeira. Está dividido em áreas temáticas que pretendem cobrir as necessidades comunicativas dos aprendentes, correspondendo aos níveis C1/C2 do Quadro Europeu Comum de Referência para as Línguas (QECR). Deste modo, o aprendente irá atingir um grau de independência que lhe permitirá interagir num conjunto variado de situações de comunicação, desenvolvendo mecanismos linguístico-comunicativos, nomeadamente de reconhecimento e uso das principais estruturas léxico-sintáticas e sintático-semânticas da língua. Estas estruturas permitirão uma maior flexibilidade e capacidade para usar a língua em situações menos previsíveis. Português em Foco 4 apresenta:

• - Textos que cobrem as áreas temáticas de modo a abranger as situações de comunicação previstas para o nível C1/C2;
• - Conteúdos gramaticais expostos com rigor e clareza;
• - Textos áudio diversificados para desenvolver a compreensão oral;
• - Exercícios de expressão oral e escrita de acordo com a temática estudada na unidade;
• - Glossário em alemão, espanhol, francês e inglês;
