Cercere, the goddess of earth and fertility, is tormented by a recurring dream that her daughter, Proserpina, disappears.Very soon she discovers that it is a premonition; Proserpina is in fact kidnapped by the god of underworld, who takes her into the afterlife. Filled with anger and pain, the goddess interrupts her good work on earth causing the fields to dry up, the seeds to no longer sprout and terrible famine.
